![]() I believe the main "no-no" is anything microscope and BB related. I know there was a drug tox high complexity analyzer that I was able to run myself for years in a pain management clinic and it was deemed acceptable since urine drug tox screenings have no microscope work involved. Sorry for the late reply, but I was a MLT years ago in Vegas and I confirm you are correct and MLTs CAN run high complexity testing if read from analyzers. ![]() Almost every high complexity test requires interpretation, including diffs, urine micros, yadda yadda.Īlso note that MLTs can’t work in blood bank in any capacity at all, even as an assistant. So, actually an MLT “can” perform high complexity testing if the result is read directly from an analyzer and requires no interoperatation. I know this because I used to live in Vegas and I couldn’t find a job anywhere and ended up moving. Any job you get as an MLT is going to be as a glorified assistant. I can’t speak for everywhere in the state but in Las Vegas MLTs are virtually unemployable. You can’t do anything involving a microscope (gram stain, urine micro, manual diff). Nevada does require a license and by law MLTs are not able to do any high complexity testing at all. Are these job listings specifically for MLT?
